The Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council wishes to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Peter Szental, who passed away on 14 July 2010. Peter served as ASBEC Treasurer and the Chair of the Business Case Task Group, but also as a founding and one of the longest-serving members of ASBEC.

As the founder and owner of Szencorp Group, Peter was at the forefront of national efforts to improve water and energy peformance in buildings. He had extensive industry involvement to encourage strong action on climate change and to highlight the needs and benefits of energy efficiency and sustainability in the built environment. His energy and enthusiasm was well recognised both within the industry and the wider business and sporting community.

Peter will be greatly missed by ASBEC and our deepest condolences go to his wife Lorraine, his children Jae and Max, and also to the staff of Szencorp.
