Internationally acclaimed speaker Peter Head, Director and Leader of Global Planning Business – Arup will deliver an abridged version of his ground-breaking Brunel lecture 'Entering an Ecological Age'. Drawing on research produced by Arup for the World Economic
Forum, entitled ‘SlimCity’, Peter will explore what it means for cities to meet the twin challenges posed by climate change and the demands on finite resources from an expanding global population. Read more
Mark Conlon, State Coordinator Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation from DECC will outline the issues and opportunities facing the community within the built environment and provide an overview of the activities currently being undertaken by government.
Using ‘SlimCity’ Knowledge Cards Sydney Forum Attendees will have an opportunity to engage with the task of how the Built Environment sector can make Sydney a better place to live both for us and for future generations. The Knowledge cards are proof that we can make a difference, so let them inspire you and invoke hope in our future. This activity will be facilitated by Shirley Reeder from Arup.

Peter Head, OBE, Director and Leader of Global Planning Business – Arup
Peter is a Director of Arup and heads up the newly integrated business of Planning and Integrated Urbanism. This business includes Development Planning, Economics & Policy, Integrated Urbanism, Transport and Environmental Consulting and Sustainable Development.
Peter was invited to be Chairman of the London First Sustainability Unit and was then asked by the former Mayor of London to become a Commissioner on the newly formed London Sustainable Development Commission in 2002. Peter has also worked in the Commission on the preparation of the London Sustainable Development Framework and is now actively facilitating workshops on its use on major development and infrastructure projects in London and, is an expert adviser to the World Future Council.
Since joining Arup in 2004, Peter has since been involved in the master planning and concept design of a number of eco-city developments in Asia, and continues his commitment to sustainable development within London.

Do I have to register?
Yes registration and payment before the event is essential.
How can I pay for the event?
All payments must be made by credit card or PayPal. PayPal is being used as a secure third party provider to facilitate credit card payments.

Can I pay for it on the night?
No there will not be any payment facilities available on the night; all bookings must be confirmed online with credit card payment prior to the event. Payment can be made by cheque in some circumstances. Please contact .
Will I receive an invoice after I register and pay?

Can I cancel after payment?
Cancelation Policy: No refunds can be made after June 16 2009. As an alternative your registration may be transferred in writing no later than 2 days prior to event.
