The Affiliated Insulation Industry Coalition (AIIC) has today released its report, Insulation in Australia: 2024.
The report highlights insulation as a heavy hitter in the mix of energy efficiency technologies available to improve the lives of Australians now and into the future.
The AIIC includes a range of trade associations that came together following the 2021 release of the Roadmap for quality control and safety in insulation installation.
“Our organisations collaborated on the report because we believe that better insulating our building stock will be vital to accelerating the transition to net zero, futureproofing and enhancing the climate safety of Australian homes, and protecting Australians’ health,” says Jim Hall, Chair of the AIIC.
Given the foundational nature of insulation for the health of occupants and energy efficiency in buildings, the report calls for governments to act by leveraging policy and regulatory drivers to support the upgrade of Australia’s underperforming housing stock.
“Millions of properties need to be upgraded to a higher standard of thermal efficiency to adapt to the warming climate, protect the health and comfort of occupants, and to best manage demand through the energy transition.
“Failure to act will result in poor financial and health outcomes for millions of Australians,” says Mr Hall.
