Energy Ministers released the Home Energy Ratings Disclosure Framework Version 1 on 19 July 2024. This is an initiative under the Trajectory for Low Energy Buildings.
The Home Energy Ratings Disclosure Framework Version 1 sets out a national approach to assess the energy performance of homes and provide an energy performance rating and certificate to households at the point of sale or lease. It outlines policy parameters for disclosure schemes, which can be adapted and implemented by governments, and gives guidance on developing a supportive market environment.
The completion of the Home Energy Ratings Disclosure Framework Version 1 is the result of efforts by the Australian and state and territory governments, as well as industry stakeholders, working together over the past 18 months.
It is the first key step on the journey to implementing residential energy performance disclosure schemes and making Australian homes more energy efficient and comfortable to live in.
