Honorary Life Fellowship is awarded to ASBEC representatives, in recognition of their long and outstanding service to our organisation and in pursuit of a more sustainable, liveable and resilient built environment.
David Parken was a longstanding member of ASBEC’s Executive Committee and chaired ASBEC’s Climate Change Task Group from 2008 to 2015, leading the development of the landmark report The Second Plank – Building a Low Carbon Economy with Energy Efficient Buildings .
David served as CEO of the Australian Institute of Architects from 2004 to 2015.
Jane Montgomery-Hribar was a co-founder of ASBEC. She was the former Executive Director of the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council (APCC), and founding member of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
As a transformative influence around sustainable procurement, she facilitated the development of the National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry and developed the Government Framework for Sustainable Procurement. Jane was awarded the NAWIC Crystal Vision Award for her efforts to promote women in leadership.
In her longstanding role as CEO of Consult Australia, Megan Motto served on ASBEC’s Executive Committee between 2005 to 2018. Megan has held the roles of Deputy President and ASBEC Treasurer.
She has been a vocal champion of ASBEC and contributed significantly to our organisation’s body of work. Megan is presently the CEO of Governance Institute of Australia.
Former longstanding CEO of the Property Council of Australia, Peter Verwer is a co-founder of ASBEC and was a founding board member of the Green Building Council Australia.
During this service, Peter lead the delivery of policy initiatives that have spurred a step change in the environmental performance of commercial buildings within Australian cities.
As a change agent advancing a better built environment, Romilly Madew was heavily involved in ASBEC since its first meeting in 2006.
Romilly served as ASEBC’s former Deputy President for several years and Chaired the Cities Task Group where she led a strong agenda for more sustainable, resilient, liveable and productive cities and regions.
Romilly was awarded an order of Australia (AO) in 2019, the 2017 World Green Building Council Chairman’s Award, the 2015 International Leadership Award by the US Green Building Council and is an Honorary Fellow of the Green Building Council of Australia and the Planning Institute of Australia. She has previously been named one of the ‘100 Women of Influence’ by the Australian Financial Review and Westpac, and a National and NSW winner of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Tom Roper served as President of ASBEC from 2009 to 2015. During this period he oversaw the operational revitalisation of ASBEC and many of the organisation’s most significant and influential initiatives including the Second Plank Report, the Built Environment Climate Change Adaption Framework, and Industry Roadmap for Net Zero Emission Homes.
